HTMLens
Open the HTML files your iPhone can't.
Quick Look shows many HTML files as a blank or broken page: password-protected statements, pages that need JavaScript, web archives, and documents saved in legacy encodings. HTMLens opens them much as a desktop browser would, right on your iPhone and iPad. There's no account, and HTMLens doesn't send your documents to any server.
Features
- JavaScriptRuns the page's scripts with WebKit, the engine behind Safari, including pop-up windows, print buttons, and images and styles from the file's folder.
- Password-protected HTMLType the password into the page to unlock it, and save it in the keychain behind Face ID for next time.
- Many formatsHTML, XHTML, SVG, Safari web archives, and MHT/MHTML files from Chrome, Edge, and Word.
- Correct text encodingDetects legacy encodings such as EUC-KR and Shift_JIS, with a manual override.
- PDF and printingSave as A4 pages or one long page, or print. Another PDF option hides the card, account, and phone numbers it finds in the page text. Text inside images isn't covered, so check it before sharing.
- Statement VaultKeep unlocked statements so they open without the password, locked with Face ID and stored only on this device.
- Dark mode and searchRead documents in dark mode, find text in the page, and change the text size.
- Amount and due dateFor Korean billing statements it recognizes, the amount due and due date appear at the top, with a button that opens a prefilled calendar event.
Frequently asked questions
How do I open an HTML attachment?
In Mail, open the attachment, tap Share, and choose HTMLens. In Files, share the file to HTMLens, or open HTMLens and tap Open File. On iPad, you can also drag a file into HTMLens.
The page says it can't be opened on a mobile device.
Some statements only open on a computer. Open the Display menu (the text size button) and turn on Request Desktop Site.
Images or styles are missing.
Some pages load pictures and styles from files next to them. When HTMLens asks, allow access to the folder that contains the file.
Where are my passwords stored?
Only in the keychain on this device, and HTMLens asks for Face ID, Touch ID, or your passcode before filling one in. You can delete them in Settings → Saved Passwords.
What happens to the Statement Vault if I change phones?
The vault is encrypted, kept only on this device, and left out of iCloud and computer backups. It does not move to a new device and is deleted with the app. Keep the original files, or export a PDF, if you need a copy elsewhere.
How do I restore Remove Ads?
Open Settings in HTMLens and tap Restore Purchases, using the same Apple Account you bought it with.
Does HTMLens upload my documents?
No. HTMLens has no server; documents, passwords, and saved statements are processed on your device. A document built to load images or scripts from the internet still connects to those sites as it would in a browser, and its scripts could send parts of the document there. Statements in the vault open with internet access turned off. See the privacy policy for details.
